With the Olympic Games only a few months away we will see an avalanche of interviews and features on the Team GB Olympic hopefuls. I’ve done a couple now, both for the Indy, this one of Weightlifter Hannah Powell was for the main sports feature in the sports pages a couple of weeks ago. Last week I photographed the USA Diving Team as they trained in Sheffield, I’ll blog about those in the next few days.
Le Bistrot Pierre’s co-founders Robert Beacham & John Whitehead photographed at their latest restaurant in Ilkley. The photo’s are published in the Dec’11 issue of ‘Restaurant’, spread over a four page the feature profiles Le Bistrot Pierre expanding business.
A few days before Christmas I joined The Independent’s Jon Brown to interview comedian Phil Jupitus. The interview was centred on Phil’s upcoming musical, Big Society! which premieres at the newly restored Leeds City Varieties later this month. Produced by the Red Ladder theatre company, the musical centres on the exploits of a variety show cast in a country presided over by an ageing monarch, run by an elitist government of public schoolboys and bedevilled by a corrupt media establishment.
I was lucky to have more time than usual with this shoot, as a rule we get some time during the interview for ‘talking heads’ and then time for one other setup. As it happens, on this occasion Phil invited us to join him while he was carol singing with the anti-capitalist protesters in Queens Sq (photo published in the Independent). I then found an old building site next door the rehearsal studio, this one just felt like a black & white portrait for me…
On Friday I joined Oliver Wright, Whitehall Editor of The Independent on a tour of Bramley in Leeds. We were there to interview Rachel Reeves MP, Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury for The Independent’s ‘Monday Interview’. Photos were used on the front page and over two pages inside. To see more of my work please click here, this shoot was booked through unp.
Last week I joined Terri Judd from The Independent to interview Daniel Majid, a British paratrooper, badly wounded by an IED in Helmand, Afghanistan. The feature ran last Saturday ahead of Remembrance Sunday. Seen on home page for the Independent. To see more of my work please click here, this shoot was booked through unp.
